A. Information You Provide
Account Information
When you create an account via email, Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In, we may collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Profile photo
- Authentication provider information
If you use Apple Sign-In, you may choose to hide your email address. We only receive the information Apple provides to us.
Event & Planning Information
When using HOWY to plan events, we collect:
- Event details (date, time, location preferences)
- Questionnaire responses
- Venue votes
- Time availability responses
- Guest lists and invited participants
This information is shared with other participants in the same event.
Contacts (Optional Permission)
If you grant permission, HOWY may access email addresses and phone numbers from your device contacts to help you find friends already using the app.
- Contacts data is used only for matching purposes.
- Contacts data is processed locally or transiently.
- We do not permanently store your full contact list on our servers.
You can revoke contact access at any time through your device settings.
Location Data (Optional Permission)
If you grant location access, we collect your approximate location to:
- Calculate distances to venues
- Improve venue recommendations
We do not continuously track your real-time location. Location data is only accessed when needed for venue-related functionality. You may revoke location permissions at any time in your device settings.
Push Notification Tokens
We collect device push notification tokens to send:
- Event updates
- Friend requests
- Reminders
- Planning confirmations
You may disable notifications in your device settings.
B. Information Collected Automatically
When you use HOWY, we may automatically collect:
- Device type and operating system
- App version
- Crash logs and performance data

This information is used to improve performance, reliability, and user experience.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account

- Facilitate event planning and scheduling
- Match you with existing users

3. AI Processing
HOWY uses OpenAI to generate:
- Event planning questionnaires
- AI-based venue scoring suggestions
Information sent to AI systems is limited to event-related context and does not intentionally include sensitive personal information. AI outputs are used solely to enhance planning functionality.
We do not use your personal data to train public AI models.

We use trusted third-party providers to operate HOWY:

Other participants in your event can see:

- Your responses

- Shared planning information
With Service Providers
We share necessary data with third-party providers listed above.
Legal Compliance
We may disclose information if required to:

6. Data Retention
We retain your information:
- For as long as your account remains active
- As necessary to provide services
- As required to comply with legal obligations
If you delete your account, your personal data is permanently removed from our active systems, except where limited retention is required for legal or security purposes.
7. Account Deletion
You may delete your account at any time by going to:

Deleting your account:
- Permanently removes your profile
- Deletes associated personal data
- Removes your authentication credentials
- Removes event participation data associated with your account
This action cannot be undone.
